yeah, if i wanted to pay for it. i was just curious. i have a bard with a crappy will save but i have an amulet of natural armor so i can't use the periapt of wisdom we found. the cleric didn't want it so i was considering it. but i think my high ac keeps me out of more trouble than my low will save gets me into. of course my dm reads this community so that may change now. anyway i like my bard reckless and don't really want to play him wiser than he is so i'm not about to spring for a "hat of wisdom" or "pants of wisdom" or whatever.

As a bard will is one of your strong saves, while no class ability I know of is gonna raise that AC. Unless you multiclass with ninja!

i have a very low wisdom and i'm multiclassed. when i rolled up stats i got a few low ones, and ended up with a 7 on wisdom. it's a seafaring campaign so i ended up taking a prestige class called freeport pirate, which allows me to use my CHA bonus as a DEX mod to AC as long as i'm not wearing any armor. it's a pretty high level campaign by now and i have a really high AC. with a few items i've got, including my amulet, some bracers of armor, and i think maybe a ring of protection, oh and a class ability that allows me to use an offhand weapon as a shield (lightning parry i think it's called) my AC is up over 30. but at level 16 my will save is only 10. it's not bad but it has gotten me into trouble. i think i've taken my last level of pirate and will start taking levels of bard again, so the old will save will start going up again.

Have you seen the Force of Personality feat from CAdv? Cha bonus to will save instead of Wisdom.

But yes, it does seem like a will save would be a higher priority at that point

wow. that's just, wow... that almost seems unfair. my hitpoints are a lot lower than i'd otherwise prefer (although to be fair i can't really complain). but sometimes i almost feel guilty about how high my AC is. using my cha bonus to will saves would be really unfair.

also if my DM lets me i'm totally gonna do it.

It allows you to use CHA bonus instead of WIS on will saves against mind-affecting spells and spell-like abilities I think. There are some abilities of creatures that have fear effects, or other mind related abilities, but are not labeled as "mind-affecting".

Why on earth would you feel guilty because you have a high AC?

One of my friends came into our campaign (at 14th level) and she maximized her AC. I think it's a 31? Basically, she (a first-time player) told the DM "I want it to be hard for people to hit me." So they made a spreadsheet of the best ac-by-cost deals she could get, and that was that.

It gets a little old when NONE of the CR 14 monsters can hit her character, but eh. There's enough spice for everyone. And her Will save is crap, so that'll come back to bite her eventually. ;-)

Our group is playing through the Age of Worms adventure path. I wish I could have the luxury of not being hit. Sadly, lots of 14CR monsters in that adventure path will hit you. My Cleric walks around with an AC of 32, before buffs. I still get hit a lot. We're 14th, nearly 15th level

well, i'm not really, but i do think it's kind of bogus that i can use my cha mod for AC.
