Eberron?

After ignoring the setting for some time, I'd now like to familiarize myself with it.
Supplement- wise I'll probably start by getting the ECS and go from there, but to get a feel for the setting I'd like to read some of the Eberron novels - any recommendations?

The Dreaming Dark series is really good. Its written by Keith Baker, who came up with the Eberron setting. The first book in the series is called City of Towers.

The Dragon Below Series, I've heard, is also well written

The Eberron setting is one of my favorites. There is a wealth of really cool stuff in the setting. I highly highly recommend it.

I'd second the Draming Dark series - IMO read the first one City of Towers, as to me that really sets the standarxd for how an Eberron game should run, and if you are going to be based in Sharn, then there's a great feel for the city in that. Personally, i think the rest of the trilogy goes rapidly downhill, but it's still an enjoyable read - what i think parts 2 and 3 lose are the distinct unique Eberron feel - the Xendrik technology could just as easily be Netherese/Blackmoor in other published settings.

have fun!

The War-Torn series is quite good, and also gives you some glimpses into how the world as it is came into being. "The Orb of Xoriat" was probably my favorite of those.

Also, Eberron is a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I'd be wary of the War-Torn series, I thought the Crimson Talisman was horrible, but Claws of the Tiger was fantastic. Dragon Below and Dreaming Dark series are both excellent, and the first volume of the Blade of the Flame series is pretty engaging, since it's one of the first books to take place in the Lhazaar Principalities. I just finished Left Hand of Death, which is book one of The Lanternlight Files, very noir, very gritty, but somehow he turns Sharn into London. All the halflings sound like Pikies from Snatch.
