So it's been pretty quiet in here lately, huh? Anyone want to have another round of the Great Alignment Debate™? That always riles things up, get's the old blood flowing...

What is the great alignment debate?

Oh, it's a collection of hypothetical question as to whether, say, a given action should be considered lawful or good. (Could a good character break her solemn oaths, if it furthers the cause of "good" deities?) Or whether, say, Robin Hood is really chaotic (opposing the Sherrif) or actually lawful (obeying higher authorities such as the King) with the corrolary that Prince John, as an usurper, is acting against law.

The questions rile people up, and after some tense arguing people conclude that diffeent DM's see things differently, and players should consult with their DM's when interpretting questions of alignment.

my favorite incarnation of the great alignment debate ended with the idea that even if an undead creaturwe didn't have evil intentions they were still evil because "undead are made out of evil the same way houses are made out of bricks"
