D&D 3E
NYC Area (New Jersey) Gamers Wanted (D&D 3.5 Homebrew)

Me - Illuminated
I'm a player in a small D&D v3.5 campaign starting up in Jersey City, just across the Hudson from lower Manhattan, that will meet every other Thursday night. I will not be DMing, as the host will, but he is happy to give the reigns over to someone else if anyone has been yearning to DM. The campaign he has in mind is a Conan-style world more Sword and Sorcery than High Fantasy. It's going to be a pretty laid-back game without some of the tighass rules some DM's throw in or follow. If you are interested, we're looking for up to three more players, and want to start as soon as possible. Feel free to ask any questions!

We'll be playing in Jersey City, just a few blocks from Hamilton Park, if you know where that is. Where would you be coming from?

Cool! I live in Montclair and work in Clifton. My 3 other games (each every other week, too) are all in Hopatcong, soit would be nice to have something a little closer to home.

What kind of characters are needed? What more can you tell about the campaign setting? What books are allowed or not?

What is the parking sitch there?

We'd be happy to have you! I'm a JC resident myself, so I can completely understand the draw of a game close by. It's a lways a drag to have to drive/bus/subway for half an hour plus to play. As far as the world goes, I'm not the DM, so I don't know much more than what he has told me. As I said in the initial post, it's reminiscent of the Conan world, with a lot of nastions of humans, each with their own society. Of course, the other D&D races are still present. Beyond that, I'm not really sure. I'm excited cause this will be my first homebrew campaign, so it'll be fun to explore a world I can't just read about in a book. I plan on playing a wizard or sorcerer and am still debating multiclassing him as a rogue. I believe we are in need of a healer of some sort, as well as a rogue (if I don't multiclass) and a strong fighter. I will be playing from the core rule books, maybe drawing from Complete Arcane or Spell Compendium, and I know another player is doing a class from Players Handbook II, but I don't know of other books allowed or not allowed. We're getting together tomorrow night to create characters, so if you're interested, drop me an email (dukewhite at comcast dot net) and I will send you more details and have the DM answer any additional questions you might have.

Hey. I'm the DM, so let me give you an answer to a few of your questions.

Thus far character-wise I think we've got a wizard and a duskblade (some sort of spell-sword thing from PHB II), so the campaign is very open. They need some sort of healing, but they could also use a rogue or more muscle. Basically anything you want to play!

I'll allow any books that aren't campaign specific. So, PHB II, Savage Species, BoVD, etc. etc. etc. all fine --- ultimately I want people to have a fun experience and play what they want. The world is loosely based on Palladium's world (I just use a lot of the names), but it's mostly a sword and sorcery with a dark past and evil, Cthulhoid gods (and good gods too, don't worry!).

I live in the Hamilton Park area of Jersey City. There is parking enforcement during the day on weekdays, but I live far enough back in HP that I know of an area within five minute walking distance that you can park on the street (it's not zoned).

Feel free to message me back if have any questions!
