I've always been a fan of pnp, so I'm not sure if I love or hate the new DDO game--it's a nice game, yea, but it doesn't stick very well to what I loved best about the v3.5 rules--and it didn't have some of the best things, like choosing gods, familiars, and special classes like druids and what not! I just finished my trial period, so can anyone tell me if it's even worth getting all my game buddies into it, and skipping off pnp?

Aren't there servers set aside strictly for roleplaying?

Yes, but Blizzard utterly fails to enforce those distinctions outside of game mechanics (and game-mechanics-wise, RP servers are identical to non-RP PvE servers, and RP-PvP servers are likewise identical to non-RP PvP servers). Every server, RP or otherwise, has people who berate and ridicule those who RP... But Kirin Tor has a stronger, more interconnected RP community on both sides than any other high-population server I've seen.

Beyond that, there are a whole ten RP servers (all with high populations, three in the top ten populated servers, five in the top twenty, and the overall highest-population server is an RP server), and only four RP-PvP servers, as opposed to the sixty-four PvE and eighty PvP servers (the vast majority of which have very low populations). The RP servers are an attempt to mollify the mature players not interested in mindless competition and amoral griefing/ganking... However, all the gankers and griefers go to RP servers to try to dominate, since they assume players on RP servers don't know how to play, or are pushovers.

Anyway. The players of Kirin Tor have taken actions to isolate non-RPers, and there tends to be more consensus of roleplaying activity hubs on Kirin Tor than on many other RP servers I've tried out, which is why I mentioned it.

To the OP: Sorry for the rather divergent digression from your post's topic.

Interesting. I might have to check that out.

If you do Alliance-side, feel free to ask me (Wraien) for locations/Guild names and the like. I've taken a hiatus from my Horde characters, but anyone in the Intercontinental Coalition (the Guilds Facta non Verba, Eardstapan, Poor Sages of Lordaeron, Amicus, and most of the Bleeding Hollow Clan) would probably be willing to help out.

I was really looking for a server to start up a Horde character, so thanks for the info.

Then I cannot recommend the Coalition Guilds enough (provided your concept isn't blatantly anti-Alliance). They're wonderful people, and I'd have changed my main to Verzhanzi, my Forsaken mage (an officer-inactive in the Poor Sages of Lordaeron), if it weren't for my Alliance-side Guild idea finally taking off running.

Though, Kirin Tor being an RP server, you can have characters both sides, for when you want a change, or some privacy from people who know you. Only on PvP servers are you stuck with one faction.
