Evil Drew
Do any of you keep journals of a sort for your characters? One of our players does, and I've decided to keep one here. I've only jsut started, and we're at 12th level, but all the really important stuff is still pending. I think I like the feel of this one.

So I can't be the only one. Lets see 'em!

I played in a Dragonlance game once where 2-3 of us kept in-character journals. Mine was in the form of letters to my character's father. The game didn't last very long, however. I didn't keep the letters, either. They were mainly retellings of each session, though, with very little character exposition.

Well, the intent of this is to keep the session, but it was brought on by the near-death of 60% of our party, so She (my character) takes it all a little personally at this point.

I actually missed the link the first time around. :-)

Shit. I was still logged in under the other account. That was me.

I figured that out once I clicked the link, yeah. At first, I was quite confused. :)

I have an in-character journal for one of my characters, but it starts slightly over a year before the game begins as a way to get more detailed history done. I haven’t yet made it to where the game actually started, but I’m looking forward to it.

not exactly, no. but my DM started a game journal here and offers bonus xp if the players write up the synopsis. i've done one as nate black, my character. some of the other summaries of game sessions were written in character by other players. my favorite is the one written by queg, one of the pc's undead companions.

I have offered bonus experience for this in the past. It's not a bad practice, and adds to the game experience... It also gives you something to look at between sessions.

I blog the campaign I'm running, but I really like the idea of an in-character journal. I don't think my players are motivated enough to do it, though, even with XP rewards.

I hate players like that. Myslef and Callum, the other character, are doing them for free.

That was me.

I sort of did. I was going to rewrite/write up two past D&D session and got them started, but with college I have a hard time getting back to my pc for... recreational literary purposes. >.< It's so much easier/convienient for me at the moment to write on paper (real journal).
Story starts that I probably won't finish on LJ:

Character journals are great! Mine is at gwen_ysalla. We conduct our games via IM (scattered college friends), but we used to do them on lj. Yeah, it was difficult. Those can be found here: meire. That's the DM's journal, as well.

Ever read hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

Only about forty times... :-D

(Hence the friend's lj. I can't remember if I told her to read it or if she told me to, way back in the 8th grade, but here we are today.)

Then when the revolution comes, that and your black mage icon will ensure your survival.
23rd-Mar-2006 03:02 am (UTC)
Really? I was sure it was going to be the Sandman icon that kept me off the wall. Ah well.
23rd-Mar-2006 04:21 am (UTC)
Well, that ain't not bad, either, but I have a soft spot fro black mag. It's where he stabbed me.

I think he's happy with what I did.

That was me. You'd think that, being a god of knowledge, I would have noticed.

I play on a DnD MUX and keep a web page with logs. Extremely useful as I tend to have a bad memory about certain things.
