New players?
4th-Sep-2005 02:06 am
Where's a good place to meet players other than meetup.com, which is now charging $5.00 (and my cheap butt can't talk myself into it)? I'm losing a player in December and I have two that are turning into flakes half the time. I need to find one more.

If there's anyone on this forum interested, my group is located in southern Orange County, although me thinks I've advertised myself here before. ^_^

Have you tried your local gaming store? No I'm not talking about Barne's & Nobel's or whatever...

If you're not sure where one is look one up in the phone book, or see if there is a store directory on WotC's website. Find the one that is populated more by gamers on a frequent basis and see if they have a bulletin board for gamers seeking gamers.

Asking people you don't know yet to meet you in a store such as this is also a good way to get a first impression of someone without bringing them into your home and finding out it's a player that doesn't mesh with your group.

Good luck

Go to http://enworld.org and post something in the Gamers Meeting Gamers forum if you haven't yet.

I found a lot of my players through WotC's "Gamer Classified" forum. Yahoo Groups can be very hit-or-miss, but there's a chance that there's a "local" forum. Accessdenied.net is another place to look.

Good luck!!

I'm in Riverside, which may be commuter distance depending on where you live. Our gamer group is called TPK and you can find us here:

Drop a line, announce your game. Maybe we have a player for you.

The DnDcontact Yahoo! Group has almost 2000 members and maintains a database of players by location. Join the group, check the database, and post a query message looking for players in your area. Be sure to mention any specifics about your group and what you're looking for, and especially mention the city and state you're in.

I kidnap people and force them to play.

Seriously posting at a local school board is a good way.
I am currently looking to form a new group as mine is totally out of control. There was an hour long break to play the newly repair street fighter game, the battle over the last pizza bite and my friends cat that tries to kill all humans.
