Anyone here play on WebRPG or OpenRPG, or anything similar?

I played on WebRPG maybe 6 months ago. Pretty much no one ever on. Hard to get a camp started.
I'm interested in giving it [WebRPG or OpenRPG] a shot again.

How does it work...? I've never even thought of it before. ^_^

At their most basic they're just chat rooms with dice commands.

They're a lot more than that though.

It's kind of hard to go over everything they do...

The two main points:

1) They allow you to create sheets to use during the game. They have lots of functions. You can build them button by button or find pre made ones. They're like little program windows. You can, say, have your attack roll stats in a box, and have a button to click to do a macro to roll the dice. Lots of flexibility.

2) They give you a tabletop. A part of the window with a grid, it can be used for anything. The map, the characters minis, all sorts of stuff.

Maybe check them out?
WebRPG is way simpler than OpenRPG, that's why I used it.

If you want me to show you some stuff on web rpg, you could get in touch with me.

So basically it's an online server devoted entirely to D&D where you can play by chat and roll dice in rooms?

WebRPG is just 1 server.

OpenRPG has lots of servers.

The most useful part [in my opinion, as someone who never actually played pen and paper] is making the little character sheets. Different tabs for things like combat, spells, inventory, basic details.

The 'tabletop' grid thing is also a very big part of it, but I played a couple times without even using it. Just like in real life, I suppose.

Some people use minis, some don't.

And ignore the 'little' part in 'little character sheets', You can make them really complex. Sometimes -TOO- complex, heh.

Hmm, sounds interesting.

Unfortunately it sounds like something that I would sign up for and rarely ever use. I'm guessing that the games run from a set time to a set time, depending on what everybody who's playing in it can swing? Most of my free time is already devoted to other things, and all my Saturdays are filled with my current gaming group. (Long live the now-going-epic campaign. \\// )

About how long does each session run?

Totally depends on the DM.

It's capable of playing all pen + paper games, really.

It's not limited to DND.

Some people play single sessions, some start campaigns.

You don't really sign up, you just log in, like IRC. Pcik a name or build a sheet and go. I don't use the character sheet thing, too much hassle, aprticularly in high body count games.

Does it cost money?
