(no subject)

I'm planning on throwing an exotic class at my party as a villain, preferably combat-oriented, but extra powers are fine. Ideally, a guy who can be effective with little equipment of his own. Now, my natural thought is that Incarnum would certainly be exotic enough to any of my players, and he might be able to soulmeld all the stuff he needs to kick ass. Now, for those of you who've actually read Magic of Incarnum, would an Incarnate or a soulborn be best for this purpose? Evil stuff and necrocarnum are al allowed for this guy, I'd just like to know which can do the most with the least. Mainly, arm and defend himself with soulmelds and be effective in combat.

And so I don't spam the list, I'm reading The Binding Stone by Don Bassingthwaite (an Eberron book, and one of the better ones IMO) and a character is using somehting called a great-gauntlet. I don't think I've seen this in any book yet, but it seems to be a combo buckler/spiked gauntlet. In the book it's enchanted, but they aren't clear if its enchanted for attacking or defense, or if a distinction even need be made. Then again, it might just have the defending property, which confounds everything. Anybody seen this in any books?
