I'll certainly be buying one, because I buy one of everything for the core game they put out, no matter how badly they suck. This one will at least amuse me as I read it.

i think it'd be a great book for a laugh!! if they get it in at barnes & nobles or borders, i'll have to leaf through it at least.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaaaa!! It's offical source material too since WotC published it! I bet it comes with a new PrC, The Dummy. Through the use of mystical yellow tomes, he can learn ANYTHING!

The scary part is that the "... For Dummies" books are really crammed full of cool knowledge, and I'm probably going to be buying this ... AND I'm probably going to learn stuff from it.

What people seem to be missing is that this book is the best tool in years to attract newcomers to the hobby. The mere presence of a "D&D For Dummies" book is going to bring the name back to the minds of people who would otherwise never think of it, and at least a small fraction of people who flip through it out of curiosity are going to find something they like.

Combine that with the fact that D&D is fairly complicated/intimidating for newcomers, and you've got something that could actually be a pretty valuable teaching tool.

I already see the Basic Game at B&N and Borders sitting right next to Simpsons Monopoly and Disney Tirvial Pursuit

Is it too soon for April fools? This is a joke, right?

I agree this is a cool thing. It'll bring more people into the hobby and, to be honest, I've been thinking there needs to be a book just like this on the shelves at bookstores...and it kinda signals gaming getting a "tad" more mainstream, which is also a nice change.

Though just a tad...
