Are there any feats or prestige classes in 3.5 that would facilitate using a ranger's favored enemy ability to hunt down undead?

there was a dragon issue with a prestige class aimed at a ranger turning into an undead hunter. the prestige class probably made its way into libris mortis.

While nothing specific jumps to mind, I'd check out Exalted Deeds and Complete Divine. They have stuff for characters who want to kick evil ass, which easily applies to rangers kicking undead ass.

There is a Hunter of the Dead PrC in the Complete Warrior, but it's more Paladin based.

Go to page 175 of the 3.5 DMG.

Under "Creating a new class" they go over some features you can add by taking bits and pieces of each class to make one new class.

Post what you come up with, I'm curious.

Glad you asked.

"Hunter of the Dead" in Defenders of the Faith combined with the feat Supernatural Blow in Masters of the Wild.

I've been playing a scary, scary intense half-elven ranger/cleric/hunter of the dead for the last couple of years and the DM groans when I gather the bonus dice for fighting undead between my paladin partner and I.

Supernatural Blow hasn't been revised for 3.5 yet though.

Our house rule is we keep non revised rules functioning as-is until the revision.

There is also a similar feat in the Kalamar setting books, but I don't know if that's revised yet or not.

donno for sure if you use it in your game but monte cook's revised ranger has a feat that adds damage to favored enemies... pick undead as a favored enemy, and work from there (throwing 'bane on a weapon if you can arrange it rocks too).

otherwise there's 'Hunter of the Dead' in Complete Warrior (but you have to have turning so at least a cleric level or two), 'Foe Hunter' from Masters of the Wild, but you'd have to tweak it for 3.5.

just my 2 coppers.

Improved Favored Enemy [General]
(CWar p101)
Prerequisites: At least one Favored Enemy, Base Attack Bonus: +5

Choose one of your Favored Enemies when you take this feat. You do an additional +3 damage to that enemy.

+3 may not be much, but every penny counts.
