Does anyone know how a half vampire/human ages?

you mean like... a vampire daddy and a human mommy or something? vamps are undead, i don't think they can have kids. in D&D anyway. if you're thinking like in Blade, i believe Blade stopped aging when he reached adulthood.

I'm talking about life expectancy. Do they age like a human, half elf or what? There is a template for one in the Libras Mortis book (yes I know it's miss spelled)

hrm. haven't seen it. what mechanism do they give for it? how do you become half a vampire? i would still say they don't age.

they explain in that book that a vampire if they consume enough blood they get the ability to breed, and if they breed with a mortal you get a half vampire. It's an ECL +2

weird. maybe i'll play one.

I'd rule that they ages like an elf *shrug*

I'd buy that. Lifespans more than twice human but not immortal.

You could always throw in something like they skip the Middle Aged (and other) age categories, but make the ones they do have a lot more painful. Venerable is truly venerable with massive penalties. Basically they appear to not age and then WHAM, they age super fast. Just an idea to have fun with.

Heh.. replying to my own post.

Or instead of skipping age categories, they reach them sooner and stay in them longer. Reminds me of a book I once read (can't remember name or author). The protagonist was altered to live forever, but his *aging* was not altered, so he would eventually become withered and weak but would never actually die from it.

That's an old greek myth. It's probably in Ovid :p

Technically, as the template doesn't do anything to change it, as the base type. So the same as a human.

Rules aside, I'd say they age half the rate of humans. They'd certainly have a longer life than a normal human, but they shouldn't get a substantial lifespan extension unless fully embrace undeath.

age as a half elf.

age as an elf with one siderule. Player must ingest blood once a year on the day of his 'birth' in order to continue aging properly. If not, then revert to aging as a half elf.

Some half-vamps are required to dirnk blood every day or be faitgued, but then these are only the ones that get fangs.

Well, I'd say it depends on the DM.

My suggestion would be to either give the character an elven style lifespan since he is half human, or possibly let him age like a human, or keep him as immortal.

The thing is, you have to think of it like this, is the negative, dominent aspect of a half vampires blood primarily vampiric or human. A good model to use is blade for the over all appearence and feel of a half vampire...
