Help assigning CR

unless i missed it, one of my old staples, Yellow Mold, never made it from first edition to 3.5. this is the important stuff for how i set up yellow mold: AC 10, 1d4 HP, immune to all damage except fire, attack +0, no damage, posion Fort DC 14 Con 1d4:Con1d4. what do you think the CR should be? basically it has one attack, no damage, just a choking cloud of spores.

Hmm...Cr 2 or 3, perhaps.

i think thats way too much. its only useful attack is the poison, which does initial and secondary 1d4 con. even 1st levels have usually at least 8 con.

You missed it. It's in there.

Dungeon Masters Guide, p. 76.

It's in the DMG, not the MM, because--like green slime--it's been classified as a hazard, rather than a monters, in 3E.

Turn to page 76 in the 3.5 DMG.
Yellow Mold in 3.5 is CR6 and is QUITE deadly.
It's darn near "save or die".
