D&D 3E
Hello, I'm new:P
3rd-Sep-2004 10:13 pm
Well, today was the first day my friends and I actually got together to play D&D. I guess we could be called novices:P, so we had the basic adventure game to start off with. It was fun, but very chaotic. I'm sure everything we did was wrong, but still...fun. Anyway, I was the DM at first, since I knew more of the rules and stuff than anyone else. We eventually had to change around and let me have a try, because they died every single time...And it was only the first adventure! After that we did fine, but we only had a chance to do one adventure:(

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and stuff

If you're having fun, your not doing anything wrong.

I agreed with the above poster. It's a game, not a competition, job, or chore. It's SUPPOSED to be fun! Think about playing Monopoly - you put tax and fees as a prize on "Free Parking", right? That's never in the rulebook - it's just a really fun house rule.

D&D is the same way - if there's something you need to change to make it more fun, do so! Spend more time having fun, less time worrying about whether you know the rules well enough.

There will be more games, and more chances for adventure, fun will be had by all.

Yep, fun is indeed the key.
18th-Sep-2004 02:49 pm (UTC) - Hello and welcome aboard...
And welcome to the group! Glad to see a new DM on board. :)

Well Jeena, so far the opinions expressed have been correct: if you all had fun, you did everything right. You'll learn the rules as you go, and make many of the mistakes some of us 'old-timers' did.

Keep us posted, and remember: "The only dumb question is the one you don't ask."
