Since it came up in the last post...

Anyone care to sell me on the BoEF, from a purely game-mechanics point of view? (I really couldn't care less about the art, and the alingment / racial sexual notes aren't going to do me any good.)

First off, you can find Samples at www.valarproject.com

Rules Wise, it has guidelines for gestation periods and mating practices of the majority of the humanoid races, plus a myriad of the fey and demihuman races.

You've got a 7th ability score fully fleshed out for all the creatures in the MM and so forth. The only thing the book is missing in relation to this 7th stat is a new rolling method. The stat is Appearance. So you can finally seperate looks from personality.

You have a section on new skills plus new uses of existing skills. A number of sexually related and generic feats.

3 new base classes, one focused on magic through beauty, the others on sex (tantrist and kundala)

You've got a bunch of prestige classes 12 to be exact. The Rake, a class for individuals who use sex, or the promise of sex, to extort information from victims, is my favorite.

You've got some new domains and a bunch of new spells. Magic Items, sexually related and generic, New Dieties and Monsters, and even some adventures and organizations.

So, some new OGC for mating and reproduction--what are the rules for determining a child's abilities?

Does the new ability score have new skills of its own, or does it take existing skills, or is it treated as an additional or substituion bonus for some skills?

Can you name the new skills?

Also--how much of the book is OGC?

the entire book, save for flavor text is OGC ( i guess the deties fall under that).

The book doesnt list the racial abilities of half breeds.

The new ability score takes upon some old skills. Like disguise. And you may choose to use either appearance or charisma for bluff, gather info, and intimidate.

You'll get a much more comprehensive responce at www.valarproject.com and their forums.

Well, I went and looked at the previews.

While I won't say that the project was done comically, I won't say that it's mature, either. I guess it's exactly what it tried to be--the RPG equivalent of an erotic sex book.

As for the game rules itself--they were, by and by, not all that great. About on the level of the d20 NGUCK.
