on my player's next adventure they have to pursue an evil party of adventurers in search of the same artifact they are to a cloud castle held by a storm giant. the giant owns the artifact but doesn't care about it and decides he'd find it amusing to make the two parties compete for it. any ideas for things they can do to compete?

cards? darts? Gladiatorial combat?

Or they can see which team does a better job of waiting on the giant, hand and foot. Lots of diplomacy checks and backrubs from the brutes of the party.

i was thinking gladatorial type stuff. but waiting on him hand and foot could be funny. realy funny.

Maybe that's just round one. The team who doesn't please the giant enough gets three rounds against some giant bugs or something before the real fight begins.

i was kind of thinking along the lines of elaborate "inescapable" traps ala doctor evil. that sort of thing. they had some sort of corny chellenge of champions thing in dragon or dungeon but i didn't like many of them. but something like that.

You could have a series of challenges, where performance on a previous challenge could affect the difficulty of future challenges

bad joke contest if there's a bard.

out wrestle a demonic pig demon in a pool of oil that has a torch about to drop into it if they're not quick about it.

out swordfight a tri-kreen duelist.

if there are evil halflings that just jabber and jabber..and a good charachter who does the same...see who can stay quiet the longest
