10th-Dec-2008 12:44 am
This is not a post to disrespect the 4th edition of Dungeons and Dragons. if you have that edition of the game I hope you are enjoying it. My monday nmight games is a 3.5 edition game. I ahd all of the books
and saw little need to let them go to waste. How many of you are still running 3.5?

My DM use Pathfinder for the current campaign.

I actually bought my set of core 3.5 before they become only available on eBay, after reading the 4th Ed reviews (I have never DMed, but I have GM RuneQuest, Star Wars WEG and a few others in the past).

No disrespect, but a choice of what sounds more fun. From a practical standpoint, I have already got a 3.5 campaign in full swing, bought a ton of books for 3.5, and don't see enough in 4E to justify ditching all of that investment.

3.5 forevah!!!

Well, maybe not forever, but I'm still running it in two games and playing it i a third. Anything new I go with will be in 3.5 as well. Simply put, 4E seemed to me like an entirely different game and I wanted to play D&D.

We're using 3.5 in my upcoming campaign, with a number of modifications based on the Pathfinder Beta Test rules. Call it 3.5 with a bunch of house rules.

The decision was driven by a lot of the same impetus as you - I have several linear yards of 3.5 material. Why would I ditch that for a new game and (for the moment) more limited options?

3.5. 4E is half-done and I'm not going to give up 30 some-odd books in favor of 3.

tried 4th. was not impressed.
my next game (group obliging) will be in 3.5.

I still DM a 3.5 game and play in another, but I'm also playing 4th and DMing KotS. I won't be DMing another 3.5 game, as I prefer the ease of preparation for 4th, but I'd happily play another 3.5 game if someone is willing to DM it. I'd prefer 4th, I find the game much more fun, with more opportunity for roleplaying and a smoother and more interesting combat system.

I am running 3.5 with some homebrew rules, thinking of adding in some of the Pathfinder rules.

I too like it "the hard way." 4E's improvements just don't do it for me.

I'm still playing/running 3.5 and none of either of my groups intend to switch to 4th. Just didn't turn our crank.

3.5 With some houserules and some holdovers from 3.0. I've played fourth. It's irritating.

I run Pathfinder and play 4th edition. Not because I want to, but because that's what the majority of players seem to prefer. Half of my group is new to gaming and started with 4th edition, so it's the familiar system to them. I'm hoping that with more exposure to Pathfinder, they will prefer it, but only time will tell.

I'm running some houserules over the 3.5 Edition engine.

(Actually, I'm running houserules over the E6 version of the 3.5 Edition engine, with dashes of d20 Modern thrown in. It works.)

No interest whatsoever in 4e. So it's still 3.5 and related to the 3.5 base here (pathfinder, Iron Heroes.) With no looking to change.

My whole group is in 3.5. Once you've made that kind of investment (not to mention knowing all the rule sets and work-arounds), why throw it all away?

3E made significant improvements over 2E that enticed me to jump and... it was time. However, 4E came along too soon and its changes do not interest me.

Much to one of my player's high annoyance we are sticking to 3.5.

Still running 3.5 and plan to continue. If I wanted to play WOW, I'd go online. I have made a large investment in 3.5, it does what I want and my players obviously enjoy it. Besides, as others have said, much of 4th ed. has not yet appeared in print so I'm in no hurry to even consider running it.

Came here to post exactly this.

I play 3.5, but I'm seriously considering Pathfinder. My players say "sure, when there is a printed version without beta on the cover". I'm really interested how Pathfinder is working out for others though.

Sticking with 3.5 (with house rules) because most of the players I DM for only learned to play about a year ago. They are familiar with the 3.5 system so we're staying with it.
Plus I don't want to get all new books.
13th-Dec-2008 07:45 am (UTC) - 3.5!
And proud of it!
4? Screw them. I have the book. I looked at them and it isn't worth it.
3.5! Play on!

I'm DMing 3.5 with some Pathfinder updates. In case anyone is thinking it's because I'm a 4E hater, let me state that I like the way it feels as a player, and I do play a Dragonborn fighter in an occasional 4E game.

It took me so long to get used to 3rd edition (Being able to "get" how powerful an adventure needed to be was the biggest problem for me with 3rd edition). After playing an extended campaign last year as a PC instead of a DM in 3.5 I want to play some more and enjoy it for now.
