A fellow on another list is looking to find a copy of the enormous "Ptolus: City by the Spire" hardback by Monte Cook.

Does anyone know of a copy on sale anywhere? Could you check your local game stores?

Amazon has them starting at $250 for a used copy!

My FLGS burned to the ground and never reopened, so I can't help you.

Crikey. I knew there was a reason I didn't want to get into Ptolus... a Google search on Ptolus says City by the Spire should be available at buy.com for about $11 in paperback, and Amazon has it for wth $250...

That's one expensive cover. What is it, gold?

I'd go with the paperback.

(laugh) the $11 paperback is an issue of the comic based on the setting. The book itself is a 672-page deluxe hardcover with poster, handouts, bookmarks sewn into the binding, and CD-ROM with an extra couple hundred pages of stuff.
The list price was $120 when it premiered in 2006, but it went out of print almost immediately.

Try Fetchbook, then compare prices + shipping.

And I'm not selling :) But it's worth the 250$. It's very well put together. Remember those college text books you'd buy for 150$ that had the almost plastic feeling pages that you knew, unfortunately, would last another 5000 years even if you splashed everything on it from chemlab? Yeah, this book is that good (materials it's made from, binding, etc).

And it covers _everything_ for a complete world. It's a work of art. A very well planned, well put together work of art.

Might be the only book thats worth more used than when I bought it new.

Edit: my 0 key didn't repeat like I wanted it to in the "5000 years" number, and I thought I'd expand on exactly what part of hte book I meant to say was that good.
