hey kids. thanks for the help with the cleric ideas. i ended up going with an insane cloistered cleric, worships an insane god of magic, domains are madness and magic.

one of the guys in my game is considering playing a rogue, but he wants to be an undead slayer, or a druid, but he wants to be a dwarf with underdark oriented abilities. is anyone aware of a prestige class that will allow a rogue to use his sneak attack ability on the undead? how about a prestige class or build options for a druid who is more at home in a cavern than a forest?

Skullclan Hunter is in Minis Handbook, but that might be halfling-specific. Alt class abilities are in Comp Champion for widening the utility of your sneak attack, but it's not at full power.

there's also a weapon enchantment that will allow him to do it but he wants it as a class ability

How about Rich Burlew's Divine Trickster? Or is taking a level of cleric not up this rogue's alley?

i think he'd be fine with taking levels of cleric, he actually mentioned he might just multiclass rogue/cleric if he couldn't find another way to make the rogue more effective against undead. i never looked at the divine trickster. i'll take a look and let him know about it. thanks.

I was going to suggest the Skullclan Hunter, but you've beaten me to it (by a fair margin, I'll admit, but I just got to the computer xD).

It isn't halfling specific, FYI. :] Skullclan Hunter gets the ability to use sneak attack on undead at 2nd level, so it doesn't even require a long trek into the class. The extra added benefits of being essentially immune to anything an undead can do to you other than cast spells and hit you are more than worth it, though.

Great class. :D

IIRC there is an Alternate Class Feature in Complete Champion that lets you deal half your sneak attack damage to undead. There is also an item in MIC (true death crystal) that lets you deal sneak attack damage to undead. And there is a spell (I think in SC), Gravestrike, that does the same thing.

Any or all of those should work for that.

So your player wants to play a dwarven druid/rogue who is an undead slayer? There are a number of undead-slayer PrCs (I think there's one in Complete Warrior, along with an Underdark stalker-type class). I wonder why he even needs to be a rogue--he can easily play a roguish druid by using spells and Wildshape. I guess a level or two of rogue could be okay if he really needs the extra skill points. But really, a straight Dwarven Druid with a focus on more underground-type spells could work just fine, I think.

no, i think he wants to play a dwarven druid OR a rogue undead slayer, not both. thanks for the ideas.

Probably off on a tangent, but bear in mind the Sun Blade allows you to crit undead.
