hey i posted earlier today about my idea for a campaign based on ancient mythic greece. a friend of mine told me today about this free e-book. i'm a big fan of free stuff and this looks pretty good so i thought i'd share the link.

Awesome. I've wanted that book for a while, but I just never got around to picking it up.

(And we're about to start a Mythic Greece campaign, ourselves.)

yeah, i'm reading it right now. i like a lot of the ideas in it but i think i'm going a little more traditional D&D then this book. lots of good ideas though.

Oh, I agree. I'm a big fan of finding ways to take the standard D&D tropes--elves, halflings, all that--and making them actually work, rather than just ditching them. It's the approach we took when working on Egyptian Adventures: Hamunaptra; rather than removing the other races, we did our best to tweak them to make them fit the mood and feel of actual Egyptian myth. (It's the same sort of thing TSR did with Al-Qadim, or Atlas games with Nyambe, both of which I love.)

I understand why some people prefer to take 'em out, as Sean did with this book, but I like stretching D&D as far as it'll go. :-)
