Loss of Life and Limb....well the limb parts true.

pappa
I am currently surviving in the Ravenloft Campaign setting and recently on a jaunt through Invidia, my Paladin was captured and thrown into the Black Tower, in my attempt to escape, I was caught and lost my left leg at the knee. I am currently walking on a crude peg leg made of wood, but I would like to eventually advance to something better. I was told that in Kartakas they have a better understanding of my needs. It took forever but we are now in Kartakas, headed for Harmonia. I was thinking of getting one made of Darkwood and maybe getting a magical ability placed on it. My request of you is.... Give me some ideas for what kind of leg you would try to create, Material used, Magic applied. Any ideas will help me. Thank you for your time.

Well, the Regenerate spell will regrow back your leg. Just in case you didn't want to be peglegged. Of course, that's assuming 7th level spells are available in your game.

Otherwise, I'd look into some of the Graft stuff (like the undead grafts from Libris Mortis, or the Draconic Crafts from Races of the Dragon/Draconomicon... I think Lords of Madness had grafts in it too). Those have some interesting ability ideas. The undead grafts especially may fit in a Ravenloft game.

Why lose the peg leg? Take Improved Unarmed Strike, then sharpen the peg, and you'll be able to stake vampires without having to ready a weapon.

Oh, all right. Savage Species had a magic item, Hands of the Humanoid or something like that, that put working hands on to non-fingered appendages such as tentacles or dog feet. You could work up something much the same that would put a working foot on your leg, and just have one built in the knee-high version so it replaces the shin, too.

I don't want to lose the peg leg, its something that adds character, thanks for the ideas though.

Being in Kartakass is probably the best place for you to be if you are trying to replace a lost limb. As the people native to that particular domain are genuinely kind, save for a few.
Darkwood I know nothing of in Kartakass but Black Pine stay away from it's relatively weak though very valuable. Your best bet would probably be oak or red birch which is in wide variety at surrounding logging communities dotted all over the Wolfwood next to the Barovian border.
Finding someone in Kartakass to craft a such a limb without being swindled in some way or fashion will prove quite difficult. Though Ballad (gold) goes an extremely long way there.
Now as far as magic goes good luck. With a cultural level of 7 and an ecology rating of full, true "magic" as it were, is pretty much null as is the case in many domains. It's a domain primarily of bards and "bardic music" which we all know is indeed a form of magic but they don't think these lines. Not to say it's not possible just pretty unlikely. Vistani are good for all sorts of enchantments though.
Also, Skald is just as likely to have a craftsman as Harmonia, don't waste the trip if you don't have to.
At any rate...good luck.

I don't know how much this will help since the last time I had a character lose a limb was back when I played 2nd Edition. But anyway lets see what help this can be. We were supposed to be escorting this princess from her kingdom to a sanctuary to keep her safe from harm from an impending war that was to break out. On the way the brilliant theif uses a ring he had found on a dead mage....*sigh* it summoned a hoard of undead. Luckly for us they were just skeletons....unlucky was there were a couple hundred. Well he start busting skulls (litteraly) and my character hears a scream from behind...the damn princess got cornered(god I hate royalty) So being the hero that I am I charge to break through the skeletons...not stopping to check to notice that they are carrying some nasty looking weapons. Well suffice to say I was the one getting the hurt put on. I ended up losing my right arm, left leg(below the knee), right eye, and right foot. Luckly for us a high cleric was passing by and noticed this (where was your holy ass like 5 minuets ago?). Anyway they were able to save me, now here came the hard part what to do about my gimp ass, a little discussion and it was decided. For a price I had my arm, leg and foot crafted from a light weight but strong as hell wood found on some trees in the forest. My eye was replace by a blue orb that allowed me to see into people's souls(basically Detect Alignment), the wood was then animated and basically grafted to my nerves so the limbs would function like normal. Took some getting used to I spent the next couple of weeks at a -5 to movement and a -3 to hit.

See if you can get ahold of the Foot of Vecna.
