The PHB2 excerpt is up on the Wizards' site, but I was wondering what you folks thought of some of the new pieces. The knight class seems particularly interesting, but many of the feats seem eager to grant folks DR. Thoughts?

Holy crap. I already love this book.

It made Fighters actually worth playing.

Feat list looks interesting. If the other class tidbits are as cool as the knight, the book would be worth it for the crunchy bits alone.

I'll probably get it just because.

I'm restraining myself. It's not particularly difficult, because I just upgraded to 3.5 a month ago. I'll let one of my more-money-than-sense players buy it and borrow it from him before I commit to it.

Looks pretty decent to me.
  • The knight's interesting; more an MMO tank than any class so far seen in D&D.
  • More feat choices are good, especially when they do interesting things without being broken.
  • I only see one feat that grants DR, as well as an alternate barbarian with DR instead of extra attacks while raging (speaking of which, I like alternate class features).
  • Retraining seems like a good middle ground between "you're stuck with what you started with!" and "oh, sure, remake your character whenever you want."
  • Finally, Polymorph being a subschool with specific spells always seemed like a preferable way to go in the first place. Hmm... It's almost like I've seen something like that before.
