Ren!
Last psionics question... honest. :]

How does a Kineticist compare to a wizard or sorcerer in terms of damage output? I looked briefly at the powers available, and it seems that its greater for the psion especially when augmenting a power or using the Overchannel Feat.

The party mentioned in the previous posts has good complimentary characters for non-combative situations, but I think they'd suffer in a straight fight.

I find kineticist to be able to turn out more D6's of damage a round than the same level of sorcerer, at higher saves. They'll burn out of power points faster, but you're still talking about 10-15 rounds at mid levels. The kineticist only psi powers are just killer, along with the psi power that hurts anyone who hurts you.

I find a Kineticst and a Sorcerer pretty even as far as damage potential.

No I haven't made up two characters and had them duke it out and record everything on a T-81 or whatever...I've just looked at spells available and whatnot.

What you could do is make two PCs with the same set of stats and compare what you've written down.

Have fun with it.

I've done that(kinda). At first level, all psions can take Mind Thrust. I haven't looked at spells outside of the PHB, but I can't recall (m)any spells that roll D10's for damage.

Psionics are stronger than arcane magic as far as combat goes.

A properly built Cleric, though ...

Which is what the elipses were implying.
