Hextor's favored weapons??

Magneto
Hello one and all.

I was looking up some info on Hextor for my upcoming campaign and came across his listing in Deities and Demigods (something I now need to buy). With Hextor himself using 6 different weapons, is it possible to allow his Clerics to choose one of those weapons as the favored weapon of Hextor?

Sure sure I know the whole..."it's your campaign"...line and such but this has thrown me for a loop as far as finding a decent sword wielding villain who worships a tyrant.

Are there also any prestige classes for evil gods out there? I haven't found any good ones (non-campaign specific ones that is).

Well even though he weilds 6 different weapons only one does he perfer. Which one is up to you but I believe they give a list in the Players handbook.

Now Prestige Classes for evil gods? Several dragon inspired calsses hor Tiamat in the draconomicon. The complete Divine has a few. I even think the Complete Adventurer has a view But I HATED that book. Nothing good ever came out of it (Bad situation lol).

As for other dieties have fun with em. You can easily take the Alienist Prestige class and make it into a clerical path of Hextor by changing the different templates and such. There is so many Prestige classes that you can alter them enough without changing there power structure to over ride your campaign.

This is one of the reasons why I like the Forgotten Realms. Their evil deities are of many different alignments (where the ones in Greyhawk seem to be more focused on chaos), and they use a wide range of weapons.

Plus with Greyhawk it seems that most of the evil deities have non-human worshipers. I know this isn't how it appears (after reading lots of material both on and offline lately), but I still seem to not have what I seek.

I have this character design in mind. Your a-typical man in black armor with a sword and shield (or even a greatsword), and yet I can't find an evil deity to match.

Thanks for the tips on the PrCs, but I'm needing something more...human...and less chaotic. The villainous group the PCs are coming up against are lawfully aligned and xenophobic.

Well you can worship Nerul. NE true but black armor is fine for him LOL. You can use a LE preist easily. Or you can not choose a good and follow a ideal or idea. What does the group stand for anyway?

The basis of the villains is from Apocalypse and his 4 horsemen.
So far I have the following lined up involved:
Hextor (War)
Nerull (Death)
Incabulos (Famine)
Kyuss (Pestilence)

Each of the 4 gods have a follower working towards the return of the BBEG...a follower of Zarus (a LE deity from Races of Destiny). The BBEG is a Psychic Warrior of considerable power...who the PCs will get duped into letting free. :)

...whom the PCs will get duped into letting free.

Or not. It's amazing how some players can smell plot-twists like that a mile away and refuse to play along.

You could always just be a blackgaurd.

I've thought about that too but the Blackguard has a seperate spell list. If I did make him one he would wind up being a Fighter/Blackguard. This would get me around the "Clerics of Hextor use Flails" problem.

Clerics don't HAVE to use the favoured weapon anyway do they?
15th-Aug-2005 11:55 pm (UTC)
No they don't, but most of the ones I have seen in adventures do.

Clerics who don't use the deity's favored weapon are sometimes frowned upon from what I have heard as well...or it's how it's played with some people that is.

I've not seen it that much myself; it must make it awkward for clerics whose diety favours a weapon clerics aren't profficient in, but then I suppose a lot of them gain the profficiency so it works these days.

Well I've seen some adventures where an enemy cleric has taken a weapon proficiency feat for the favored weapon. I guess I like clerics as villains too much... :)

Clerics make great villans, the even work well as long term ones since powerful clerics can summon undead that will be a challenge early on while you're finding out what's happening:>

Hell, I ran a priestess of Eilistraee(bastard sword) who used a scythe as her weapon. Said it was shaped like the moon.
