starting a new game tonight. i decided to play my character sensitive about his height. anyone with a PHB handy, what's the minimum height for a half-elf? there's a random table in the description chapter, need to know the lowest roll possible for height for a male half-elf. thanks!

The height range in the PHB is just the range of "standard" heights. Just like the male chart for humans doesn't get down into the 4'6" region but there are people that tall.

I imagine your DM will probably let you be whatever height you want so long as you don't push it into being size Small or try to wrange rules concessions for it.

I can't go there now because of the firewall at work, bu the answer to your current question, and many others, is all here.
I highly recommend this site to all DM's and players.

It's okay to be defensive about your height if you're short.

So, don't be short. Be 5'8" tall, and be defensive about your height. The trick will be to come up with a good reason for it.

Raised by tall species?

My Dad is 6'2", my Oldest Brother 6'4", I'm 6'2. My brother older than me was 5'11" and one of the taller kids in his class and thought of himself as short.

'zactly what I'm talking about.

Or, you could take in the other direction and hate being too tall (which is more of a girl thing si this modern day and age 9_9.)

WHAAAT? BEAN POLE?!?! *smashface*

According to the table, 4'9" is the shortest possible height for a half-elf male. 4'7" for a female.

... or you could be sensitive about your height because you're taller than normal for a half-elf...
