Can someone help me out?

I don't have access to a 3.5 PHB right now..the books are at a friends place and he's out of town...but was wondering about knowledge skills. I could wait, but I rather not :)

When you use a knowledge skill, say knowledge nature for example, what are the particulars about knowing something of a creature? DC 10+HD?

Is it 5 over the DC for another piece of information? etc etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

hmm...*runs to get book*

It's 10+ the creatures HD
10 for really easy questions
15 for basic
20 for hard
30 for 'how the heck did you know that'?

For every 5 you beat the DC the DM may give out another hint/tid-bit.

Monstorus Humanoids, Fey, Giants, Animals, Weather, Seasons, Plants...

Hope this helps

DM discetion. Always. but I suppose that works for most things. But what sucks is by level 10 you know just about everything about everyone. Even lower levels...its the same. *shrugs* I suppose thats why its high level.

Nearly verbatim. I was all set to write a post about "silly, they don't have anything that precisely-defined for knowledge skills, you just guesstimate the DC based on obscurity of the fact" and then I went and looked it up. Turns out you're exactly right. Who knew?
