Friend of mine is turning 30 tomorrow, we're all meeting at his house and going out after. He says he wants me to run a quick one-shot game. There will be 3 or 4 players and I need a game I can finish in 3 or 4 hours. Any ideas? I think I'm gonna pre-roll characters so we we can just jump right in and start.

3 or 4 hours eh...hmm

group of players. dont know one another. Placed under a geas spell by a wizard. forced to recon a keep of a nearby baroness. If they find the baroness, they're to kill her.

Baroness is accually the wife of the wizard who placed the players under the geas spell and he wants her removed because he wants the money that is provided being married to her.

Players have the opportunity to talk the baroness if they confront her. They can kill her or she can remove the geas herself (she's also a wizard/sorcererererererer) and then perhaps go back to kill the wizard who placed the geas on them in the first place.

what better way to celebrate 30-year anniversaries than with the new version of the Basic Game?

The new D&D Boxed Game. Complete with 3.5 rules, a beginner adventure, premade iconic characters, a battle mat and minis for all the characters and monsters in the adventure. I might just need to get it for the minis.
